Tonight, by unanimous vote and with a heavy heart, the NAFA Board of Directors voted to cancel the in-person 2020 annual NAFA Meet in Kearney, NE.
This decision was made due to concerns about the increase in COVID-19 cases in Nebraska, the cancellation of the IAF delegation, and the potential for
unintentional spread of COVID-19 through a large gathering of falconers.
Currently, the Board is working on plans for a virtual meet including speakers, the membership meeting, public Board Meeting, and a live nightly raffle
to occur online this November in lieu of an in-person gathering. Plans for rescheduling the International Meet at a future date TBD are also underway.
We know this is a disappointment to many, including us, and want to extend our greatest thanks to the meet planning committee including but not limited
to Ralph Rogers, April Rice, Corey Roelke, Krys Langevin, and Sue Cecchini, who worked so tirelessly to plan what would have been an excellent meet. As
more information becomes available regarding the virtual 2020 meet, we will be sharing announcements and logistics on the NAFA Facebook page and on the
NAFA virtual members area, The Weathering Yard.
It is with some sadness that I had to notify the IAF Delegates of our IAF decision to replace this year's IAF Annual Council of Delegates Meeting with a virtual meet. I was even sadder to have to inform Sheldon, Dan and Ralph, who holds a special place in IAF's heart; Kearney is the favourite of falconers from across the globe. IAF will make every effort to get back there as soon as we can, when the pandemic is over, when international travel is again possible and acceptable, and when everyone is comfortable that we are no longer likely to spread the infection. Best wishes to all my friends in NAFA. From Gary Timbrell, CEO IAF and NAFA Overseas Member.
