           PRESIDENT'S Update

Dear @@first_name@@,

I normally refrain from messaging the entire membership at times other than the first day of every month, but I want to issue this quick notice to everyone; Last November, at the request of the members of our Editorial Advisory Committee, NAFA’s board of Directors voted in favor of establishing earlier deadlines for submission of materials to our publications.  In an effort to assist Editor Dan Milner in continuing to create such great magazines and in getting them to all of us promptly, the board shifted deadlines by two weeks.  The new dates have been posted on the website since that time, but with the deadline for the April Hawk Chalk only a few days away, I wanted to point it out with this additional message.

Henceforth, we are operating with new deadlines in place, which means that submission of all materials for the April Hawk Chalk must be received by February 15th.

Submissions for the August Hawk Chalk are due by the 15th of June.

Submissions for the December Hawk Chalk are due by the 15th of October.

All submissions for the Journal will be due by the last day of October each year.

These deadlines hold true for all submitted materials, including Director’s Reports, Affiliated Club Reports, Articles, Photographs, Artwork, Recipes, Advertisements, Poetry, etc..  Additionally, please note that Mr. Milner has requested that affiliate club reports be kept down to a page or page and a half of text so that we will have room to include all submissions.  The Hawk Chalks have been growing a bit, and we have to keep them down to a reasonable length to be able to afford printing and shipping costs.

Please send all submissions to publications@n-a-f-a.com

Also, I’d like to take a moment to direct you to a “GoFundMe” web page, to help one of our own.  On January 30th, Heather Gast was in a head-on collision (not her fault) and both of her legs were severely shattered at the ankles.  She has a long road ahead of her, and multiple surgeries planned.  The community has really rallied to support her, and past Field Meet Chairman, Krys Langevin has established a web page that provides us all with the opportunity to contribute financially to help Heather.  Let’s alleviate her financial burden so that she can focus all of her efforts on getting her mobility back, and caring properly for all of her animals.  We are all looking forward to seeing her smiling face and wonderful English Setters at future field meets.  It is a huge inspiration to see our falconry family come together with support of all kinds, time and time again, when members are in need.  A particularly nice touch to this fundraiser is that it comes with a promise to hand over any extra, unnecessary money, to the Falconry Fund 501(c)(3).  Get well soon Heather!

Thanks,
Scott

Thank you all for your support, and for helping us adhere to the initiatives outlined in our mission statement and bylaws.  We are all in this together.
