This International Meet is being organized by NAFA's Eagle Committee and the International Eagle Austringer's Association (IEAA). The Meet is being held in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The Meet begins Monday October 8 and ends Saturday October 13.

 The 2018 NAFA Eagle Falconry Meet

Monday, October 8 thru Saturday, October 13, 2018

This Meet is being held in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The Meet begins Monday, October 8 and runs thru Saturday, October 13.   NAFA’s Co-Sponsors are not finalized but are expected to include groups like the International Eagle Austringers Association, The Falconry Fund, the Wyoming Falconers Association, the Montana Falconers Association, the Idaho Falconers Association, Marshall Radio Telemetry, G & B Ranch, the Talon Trust, the CMA Fund, and several others. Additional Sponsors are welcome to sign up. Each day will be dedicated to hunting in the Rock Springs area. Each evening, Monday thru Thursday, will feature a group buffet style dinner starting at 7:00 pm, along with either a small group of speakers or a panel discussion. The dinners may include Italian night, Mexican night, Southern night, Pizza night, etc.  There will be a drawing each evening for one door prize (must be present to win). Topics and speakers are currently being developed.  On Thursday evening, there will be a silent auction. There will be a picnic/barbecue with a bonfire on Friday.  Hunting will occur every day thru Saturday.  Each evening eagle falconers will post their hunting plans for the next day, allowing attendees to make plans for the next day.

Meet invitees will include livestock/woolgrower association members, USDA and USFWS personnel from Western states, Western State Game and Fish managers, Falconers, Raptor biologists, Raptor Rehabilitation professionals, Congressional staff, Wind Energy representatives, and eagle enthusiasts.

Meet organizers recommend participants make their hotel reservations prior to August 1 for the special room rate ($90/night) and to secure any special requirements such as a dog friendly room or a room with a private, outdoor entry.  Rooms 231 thru 250 offer a view and quick access to the weathering yard and we recommend anyone bringing a bird make their reservations early to secure one of these rooms.  A weathering yard, with posted attendant times, will be provided.  For more information on the Meet headquarters hotel and reservations contact the Best Western Outlaw Inn at (307) 362-6623.

Meet registration is required for everyone attending.  “Registration” includes admission to all evening presentations, a Meet gift and/or t-shirt, and an auction bidder number.  The early bird “Registration” is 35$ per person until August 15, and 55$ after August 15.   The evening buffet meals and picnic, along with a chance at five evening door prize drawings, will be available every evening Monday thru Friday, and can be purchased online prior to August 15 for 15$ each meal/door prize ticket, and for 20$ after August 15.  A limited number of buffet dinner meals may be available at the Meet Registration Table for $20 per meal. On-Line registration closes October 7.  Meet organizers cannot guarantee hotel rooms, dinner or presentation seats for anyone registering after August 15.

Other Meet Notes


·         This meet will follow NAFA’s field meet policy for Jointly Sponsored meets.

·         Meet sponsors will not provide alcoholic beverages.

·         The Meet will be “approved” by Wyoming Game and Fish.

·         Falconers are responsible for their hunting licenses.

·         Non-members of NAFA, IEAA, and other sponsors are allowed to register.

·         Net proceeds will go to nonprofit organizations such as the CMA Fund, Talon Trust, and The Falconry Fund.




It is assumed that all Wyoming resident falconers will have the necessary paperwork, permits, and stamps.

All falconers bringing birds to the Meet need to bring their State falconry and possession paperwork.  Also bring Federal paperwork, if required for their circumstances.


Falconers do not need any sort of transportation permit or health certificate to bring their birds into Wyoming.

Falconers hunting with any hybrid or non-native raptor must use two transmitters.

Falconers hunting only white tailed jacks, red fox, and coyotes do not need a Wyoming "Hunt with Falcon" permit.

Anyone attending the Meet/Workshop can purchase a Wyoming Conservation Stamp as a way to contribute to wildlife conservation in Wyoming.

Falconers planning to hunt cottontails, grouse, pheasants, or any other small game or game bird MUST purchase a Wyoming Conservation Stamp, a Wyoming Hunt with Falcon Permit, as well as a Wyoming non-resident small game/game bird license.

Falconers planning to hunt waterfowl will need a federal duck stamp and a Wyoming Harvest  Information Program Permit.  The Wyoming HIP Permit is available online.
